Winemaker Wednesday: Domaine Adèle Rouzé

Tell us about your property (how long it has been in your family, how long you have been making wine there, the size, any growing philosophy you might have):

I am a young woman of 31, and I have created my own domaine here in Quincy in 2003. My parents who are also winemakers work with me and we share the work. I also get help from my brother, who is an enologist.

It’s a small domaine of 2.5 hectares, but we hope to see it grow over the years. Our philosophy is to make a wine that is rich and pleasant and, above all to make the little appellation of Quincy better known.

What is your favorite vintage and cuvee from your own property and why?

I love all of my vintages because they are the fruit of teamwork and a love of our terroir. For now, I only make one cuvée because if the small size of the property. But I do think about making another.

When you are not drinking your own wines, what are you drinking? What other wines, beers, etc. do you enjoy?

I really love discovering wines, whether French of not. The discoveries open  us up to what’s going on elsewhere

What is your favorite food and what wine would you pair it with?

Since I know the white wines of our region so well, I naturally turn to them when chosing a pairing. I love scallops sautéed in butter, a slice of lemon and a glass of Quincy.
